Beautiful Baby Belly

February 12th, 2011

Once upon a time I couldn’t imagine maternity photos that weren’t taken in a studio. You know: black or white background, standard fare, artificial lighting. Since I’m an on-location (read: outdoor) natural light photographer, it didn’t occur to me to offer maternity sessions. But I’ve had lots of requests so I’m dipping my toe in [...]

I have to say, this gorgeous Mama has officially changed my mind. I can now see the endless possibilities available outdoors with nature and warm evening light as our only backdrop. Lovely!

I am convinced that I live and work in one of the most beautiful places in Texas. We are surrounded by green, huge trees, beautifully filtered light, waterfalls, lakes and ponds. It’s a photographer’s paradise! But sometimes I start feeling like the sessions start to look – or at least feel – the same. The same scenery with different beautiful faces. And I totally get it – it’s beautiful! Heck, I’m going to be doing my own family portraits with the same lush green backdrop!

But when a family is willing to try something a little different, I get really excited! This beautiful Mama and her adorable baby girl wanted to have their session in a more urban location and I was thrilled to oblige! Although we both had something slightly different in mind, we ended up altering our plans as we wandered through the streets and eventually landed on the tracks.  It was fun trying something new – thanks for being adventurous!
